Big Jim Wins Again
In the night's final race, Wendell's Carnell Lee Jr. drove through the late model sportsman field twice in an attempt to run down pole-sitter "Big" Jim Kelley. But he left that opportunity against the turn one wall when he spun and struck it on lap 58, two from the end. Lee qualified second but pitted on lap 16, rejoining the race in next-to-last position. On lap 27 he was again in second spot when he spun on the backstraight.
Kelley, of Newport, drove to his second win in a row at ECMS. Washington's Chris Bowers was second and Chocowinity's Tony Pendley was third. All drove Chevrolets. Lee finished fourth in his Pontiac.
