Query continues to dominate at Concord
Freddie Query, of Mooresville, rolled to his fifth-straight Big-10 Series super late model victory and 72nd career win on Saturday night at Concord Motorsport Park. Query's win, on Craftsman Tools night, brings him within two victories of the all-time track record holder Jack Sprague who has 74.
Query started on the pole and led the entire super late model feature. He would however fend off a very strong challenge from third-starting Dennis Shoenfeld, of Concord. At the finish, Query would get the win and Shoenfeld's night would take a turn for the worse.
In post-race inspection, Showenfeld's car was found to have a track width wider than rules allow and he was disqualified. The moved Ricky Marshall, of Malabar, Fla., to second; with Shelton McNair, Jr., of Plymouth, third.
Point leader Eddie Massengill, of Goldsboro, had quite the adventure, suffering a flat tire at lap 53. A timely caution kept him on the lead lap, and he raced back to a fourth-place finish, his seventh top-four finish in the seven races this season. Mark Keeteman, of Kannapolis, finished fifth.
